Nashotah-based Mod-U-Dock has been sold to Cudahy’s CR Industries, according to a story first reported in BizTimes. All production has been moved to Cudahy and employees have been offered jobs at CR.

Mod-U-Dock makes an array of high-end, maintenance-free docks for marinas, campgrounds, industrial uses and condominiums such as those located on the Milwaukee River. The company’s website shows numerous examples of its installations for everything from a kayak dock to an RV park.

The company was founded in 2000 by Jeff Spence, a heating and cooling contractor, who will work as a consultant to CR for a period of time through the ownership transition.

CR Industries is a full-service metal fabricating company founded in 1985. It was acquired in 2022 by Rich Ballenger and Erik Thompson, who have extensive metal manufacturing management experience. According to reports, they are seeking to expand CRI by acquiring high-quality full product lines that they can make themselves in Cudahy, and Mod-U-Dock is a great fit for their growth plan.
