The Women & Girls Fund of Waukesha County (WGF) has announced it will accept “letters of intent” for nonprofits seeking 2024 grants of up to $20,000 through noon on January 26, 2024. The group also opened its 2024 nominations for the Woman of Distinction and Young Woman of Tomorrow awards, which are due by January 31, 2024.
Grant Opportunities
The WGF awards grants to Waukesha County nonprofit agencies to support specific, measurable programs that advance the health and well-being, self-sufficiency and empowerment of women and girls in Waukesha County.
In addition to its annual grant program, in 2024, the WGF will also offer a special one-time grant for programs focused on mental health, particularly school-aged girls in Waukesha County.
Details of the grant application process are available on the group’s website. Letters of intent are due January 26 and applicants will be notified by February 20 if they are selected to submit a full grant proposal.
In 2023, the WGF awarded grants totaling $145,000 to 14 area nonprofit organizations. Since its inception, the WGF has awarded more than $1.6 million in grants to county-wide nonprofit organizations focused on improving the lives of women and girls in our community.
Women of Distinction
The philanthropic organization’s 40th anniversary Women of Distinction awards will be held May 17, 2024, at the Brookfield Conference Center.
Its Woman of Distinction award recognizes women who have demonstrated their passion and commitment to improving the quality of life in Waukesha County while inspiring other women to do the same.
The Young Woman of Tomorrow award is bestowed upon a young woman under age 25 who is in high school, college or advanced training in Waukesha County and has demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality of life in the county through extracurricular and academic involvement.
Criteria and online nomination forms for both awards can be found on the WGF website. Sponsorships are now available for the event.
