September 28, 2023
Photo by Milwaukee Tool The Milwaukee Tool - Mukwonago factory is competing statewide in the "Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin" contest with their Bolt Safety Helmet.

The Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest has announced the top 16 products that are finalists and Milwaukee Tool’s Mukwonago factory (formerly Empire Level) is currently the number 5 seed with their Bolt Safety Helmet Type 2. The contest is sponsored annually by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Johnson Financial Group.

Nominations were accepted from August 16 – September 8 and the popular voting began in September to whittle the 100+ contestants down to the top 16. From this point forward, it is a bracket-style contest, dubbed Manufacturing Madness by the organizers, with one-on-one contests to narrow down the brackets each week until the winner is announced on October 19.

In this round of voting, which runs from September 28 – October 3 at 5:00 pm, Milwaukee Tool’s Bolt Safety Helmet is competing against the number 12 seeded product, the Thorogood American Heritage 6″ Tobacco Safety Toe Work Boot. Vote here if you’d like to see Milwaukee Tool advance. You can vote once per day, per device.

If Milwaukee Tool advances on October 4, we will provide an update so you can continue helping them along to the final rounds.

The Bolt Safety Helmet is indeed a cool product, well beyond the typical safety helmet you would see on a construction site or other hazardous work environments. It provides comfortable padded suspension including a swinging rachet and has an antimicrobial sweatband and helmet liner that are both machine washable to prevent odor and bacteria build up. The helmet is also designed to be accessory compatible to allow the user to add other personal protective equipment like a face shield, as well as a headlamp mount and a marker clip for easy access to pens and markers.

Vote now and vote often for our friends and neighbors in Mukwonago who make this cool product!

Editors Note: Sadly, Milwaukee Tool was defeated in the top 16 matchups and has been eliminated from the competition as of October 4.
